We can assist you with the majority of your valuation office administrational requirements. We have outlined a list of services we provide that can help you deal with the valuation office agency effectively and efficiently.

Merging two or more properties to get one rating assessment

The merging of two or more properties to create one assessment must be carried out via the valuation office online portal. Back in the old days, these merges were carried out by paper copy. Not any more. You must become familiar with the valuation office online portal or find a competent business rates agent like Steve Adams or Mark Allen to do it for you.

In order to merge a property together the properties must be touching. You cannot merge the property into one assessment if you have two separate occupiers stationed within the two separate areas. The property can be empty or occupied by one tenant in both areas. Then you can merge properties.

Get yourself familiar with the online portal by first registering with the valuation office agency to create your account. Here is the link to register either as an organisation (Ltd etc) or as an individual (sole trader). https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/business-rates-property-linking/start

To understand your merging requirements more properly, contact Mark Allen or Steve Adams for free business rates advice on either how to merge a property or if you would like us to do it for you.
