We dont believe in charging our customers for our business rates advice, which is why we try to help you as much as we can without costing you a penny. We help over 20 people and businesses on an average per week and we have hundreds of customers.

But if you do need to employ our professional business rates service, we only charge a one off low cost fee, no contracts, no stupidity, and our direct mobile numbers to keep in touch with us at any time.

One of our recent customers initially called us for business rates advice on how to claim backdated business rates relief. The council refused to apply the SBRR, which meant a £9000 rates bill, so our customer decided to employ our services, and a few weeks later has a zero balance on their business rate account. The council had the property down as empty, but it was not empty, only not trading, and thus the business rates relief was applied to the account.

I am finally back to do a bit of business rate blogging after an extended period of time not doing it, well pretty much since the Covid days.

The majority of enquiries we have received in the past 18 months are to do with business rates relief and using the check and challenge service. Around half of our rate relief cases are because the council refused to grant the relief (SBRR or Extended Retail Relief), until we stepped in and got them it. The other half are from claims that the client preferred we took as an administrational task.

Enquiries related to the check and challenge service have proved interesting. Obviously many people are trying to reduce their business rates liability, especially since the new revaluations on April 1st 2023, when many had risen by massive percentages. We have found savings for our customers, which is great news.

More businesses suffer as councils deny basic restart grant funding using "empty property" excuse

Many businesses have asked us to help them claim the restart grant as councils do their best to deny this funding. Excuses range from claiming the commercial property is empty or that the business is not trading or that it does not fit into their category. Some rejections are of course legitimate, but many are not and this is where the fight starts. Bring in the MP, constantly question the council and demand the funding, thats pretty much how we do things here.
